Beauregard's Public Transportation requires you call 24 hours in advance to schedule pick up. Beauregard's Public Transportation DOES NOT run on a fixed route like a bus. They come and pick you up at your house, take you where you want to go, and return you to your doorstep. Their number is 463-4389.

Beauregard's Public Transportation will take you anywhere you want to go. As long as you call 24 hours in advance to schedule they can take you shopping, to work, to hair appointments, to the library and even to medical appointments. They will either wait for you or come back and pick you up to take you back home.

1. Why should I have a working smoke alarm?

A properly installed and maintained smoke alarm is the only thing in your home that can alert you and your family to a fire 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether you're awake or asleep, a working smoke alarm is constantly on alert, scanning the air for fire and smoke.

3. How often should I check or replace smoke alarms?

Is your smoke alarm still working? Smoke alarms must be maintained! A smoke alarm with a dead or missing battery is the same as having no smoke alarm at all.

4. What are some general guidelines for smoke alarm maintenance?

Smoke alarm powered by a 9- volt battery:
-Test the alarm monthly.
-Replace the batteries at least once a year.
-The entire smoke alarm unit should be replaced every 8-10 years.

Smoke alarm powered by a 10 year lithium battery (or long-life) battery:
-Test the alarm monthly.
-Since you cannot (and should not) replace the lithium battery, the entire smoke alarm unit should be replaced according to manufacturer's instructions.

Smoke Alarm that is hard wired into the homes electrical system:
-Test the alarm monthly.
-The backup battery should be replaced at least once per year.
-The entire smoke alarm unit should be replaced every 8-10 years.

5. What should I do if my Smoke Alarm is activated by cooking or shower?

A Smoke alarm is just doing its job when it sounds while you are cooking or taking a shower with lots of steam. If a smoke alarm sounds while you are cooking or taking a shower with lots of steam, do not remove the battery. You should:
-Open a window or door and press the "hush" button.
-Wave a towel at the alarm to clear the air.
-Move the entire alarm several feet away from the location.

6. I have a fire extinguisher that has been used or it is old. What should I do with it?

Fire Extinguishers that have been used must be serviced by a professional fire extinguisher service company. The internet or telephone directory can be used to find these companies. 8. Do I need a burn permit? How do I get one?

If you live within the corporate limits of the City of DeRidder, you must have a burn permit before conducting any open burning. Open burning is considered any fire which flames are readily unobstructed to the atmosphere. Items which are designed for controlled burning do not fall under open burning. An example would be, a bar-b-que pit designed for cooking. Any items not specifically built for controlled burning are subject to the open burning laws. 1. Do I need a permit for a garage sale?

Yes a permit is required for a garage sale. Garage sale permits are $3.00 and can be purchased at the water office. You are only allowed one permit every three months and the permit is good for three days.

2. Does the city sell cemetery plots?

The city owns three cemeteries; Beauregard Cemetery, Community Cemetery, and Woodlawn Cemetery. Currently there are plots available at Beauregard and Woodlawn. The current rate for a cemetery plot is $562, payable by cash or check. This rate increases every year. This fee is to be paid in full at time of purchase, we cannot do payment plans.

3. What are the Farmer's Market hours and where is it located?

The DeRidder Farmer’s Market is located on Washington Avenue across from The Stadium Sports Grill. The farmer’s market is open 7 days a week but the hours are not regulated.

4. How do I get set up at the Farmer's Market?

All vendors must fill out a vendor application to set up at the DeRidder Farmer’s Market. Applications can be picked up at city hall.

5. How do I get a street light repaired?

If you have a streetlight out call 462-8900 with the pole number and address and we will get it repaired.

6. How do I get a big blue trash can?

1. How do I reserve a park pavilion?

The pavilions at Bryant Park, North Park, Veterans Park and West Park are available to rent for a non-refundable fee of $25.00. Applicants must fill out a form and pay in full by the Thursday before your scheduled date. Veteran’s Park pavilion can only be rented for a minimum of 3 hours. For reservations call 462-8900 *Note the Splash Park at Veterans Park is not available to rent. For pool reservations at West Park Pool call 460-9557

2. What are the hours of the West Park Pool?

The West Park pool is open seasonally usually starting on Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.  Hours are Tuesday - Friday 10am - 6pm, Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday 1pm - 5pm.  Starting August 1st, the West Park Pool is only open on weekends.

3. What are the Splash Pad Hours?

The Veterans Park Splash Pad is open weather permitting usually from April - September.  The splash pad is motion activated between the hours of 9am - 8pm.

4. Can I reserve the West Park Pool for a Party?

The West Park Pool offers Deck Parties, Semi-Private Parties and Private Parties during the season.  Call the pool at 337-460-9557 for more information.

5. Can I reserve the Splash Pad for Parties?

The Splash Pad cannot be reserved however the covered pavilion at Veterans Park can. Picnic tables near the Splash Pad are first come, first serve.  For reservation information contact City Hall at 337-462-8900.

1. What are the hours for the Water Department?

The water department is located inside city hall and is open from 7:00am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday and Friday 7:00am-noon.

2. What is the minimum water bill?

The minimum residential water bill is $22.12. Usage is from 0-2,000 gallons.

3. How much does it cost to set up a new water account?

A $50.00 water deposit is required. The fee consists of a $40.00 deposit and a $10.00 service fee. The $40.00 deposit is refundable after applied to the final bill.

4. How do I disconnect my water service?

5. When are water bills due?

Water bills are due by the 22nd of each month. Late fees are added on the 23rd.

6. How can I pay my water bill?

Water bills can be paid in the office at 200 South Jefferson Street, online, by mail or at the Kiosk Machine (Jack) located outside city hall. There is no charge for cash or checks. Kiosk credit card payments will be charged a $3.95 fee.
