The new location of Whataburger, at 430 N. Pine St. in DeRidder, will employ 120 people and is projected to open in early 2023.
Whataburger is now hiring for all positions, including restaurant managers, team leaders and team members.
In a news release from Whataburger franchise group G.V.C.S., Inc., the company said, “Whataburger’s unique leadership curriculum trains all employees in a way that automatically puts them on the path to career advancement.”
The DeRidder restaurant will feature an open-concept dining room and double drive-thru, as well as interior and exterior digital menu boards, custom murals and self-order kiosks.

Q: Tell us about your company. Who is G.V.C.S., Inc.?
A: G.V.C.S., Inc. is one of Whataburger’s longtime franchise partners, dating back to 1985. Based in Lufkin, TX, they are the team that will be opening and operating the Whataburger restaurant coming to DeRidder.
Q: Why is Whataburger/G.V.C.S., Inc. building a restaurant in DeRidder?
A: Whataburger and G.V.C.S., Inc. have been eyeing the DeRidder area for many years. It’s a vibrant community and we’ve been investing time getting to know its leaders and its people, and we couldn’t be more excited to open up a restaurant here. The DeRidder area has a rich history and a bright future, and we’re proud to bring a little orange-and-white goodness to the neighborhood.
Q: Does G.V.C.S., Inc. operate any current Whataburger locations in Louisiana or other states?
A: Yes, G.V.C.S., Inc. currently operates five Whataburger restaurants in Louisiana and 13 additional restaurants in East Texas.

A: While we don’t have a specific date to share just yet, the restaurant is expected to open in early 2023.
